Keystone Law advises city council on £60m neighbourhood project

Keystone Law commercial property partner Emma Lloyd has assisted Stoke-on-Trent City Council on the £60m ‘Goods Yard’ neighbourhood project with social mission developers Capital&Centric.

The Goods Yard is a flagship regional investment backed by the UK Government’s Levelling Up scheme and is set to create 75 jobs.

The project will transform the industrial site next to Stoke-on-Trent’s west coast mainline train station and will see the creation of more than 170 new homes, new workspaces, as well as bars, cafes, shops, and green spaces.

Stoke approved the project in March and construction work is set to begin immediately following the appointment of a contractor earlier this month. The neighbourhood is expected to be completed by 2025.

Cllr Abi Brown, Leader of the city council, said: “There’s a lot more to get developments started than people often realise. With huge commitment from our partner Capital&Centric, our legal advisor Emma at Keystone Law and other specialist advisors, the Goods Yard is set to roll very soon.

“We know that seeing activity on site is when the excitement really starts to build and we can involve local people and businesses in shaping this exciting new destination.

“The Goods Yard will transform a currently underused, canalside area into a vibrant place for living, working and having fun. The impact will be widespread from jobs, skills and new businesses to attracting interest and investment into our brilliant city. We are Levelling Up Stoke on Trent and this is one of the first Levelling Up projects to be delivered.”
