The Renters’ Rights Bill and the Future of Rent Repayment Orders - 42BR

42BR Barristers invites you to join us for an insightful discussion, led by Mathew McDermott, on the Renters' Rights Bill. The bill is rapidly progressing through Parliament and could become law as soon as this Spring.

Date: Thursday 13 March 2025

Time: Arrival from 5pm for a 5:15pm start

The Renters' Rights Bill is a flagship piece of legislation for the Labour government and will bring about important changes across the residential landlord and tenant landscape.

This includes changes to the meaning, breadth and scope of rent repayment orders awarded against landlords by the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), the use of which has risen considerably since changes were brought about in the Housing and Planning Act 2016.

  • What are the likely changes the Bill will introduce?
  • Will it be easier for tenants to obtain a rent repayment order?
  • What impact will the changes in the Bill have on landlords?
  • Who else needs to be concerned?

To coincide with the publishing of his book on Rent Repayment Orders, Mathew McDermott will be discussing the above - and more.

We would be delighted if guests would join us for drinks and nibbles after the talk.
