DCLG rebranded as Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
- Details
The Department for Communities and Local Government is to be renamed as the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), it has been announced.
The move follows the re-appointment of Sajid Javid to the position of Secretary of State, but with a changed job title as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Javid said: “Building the homes our country needs is an absolute priority for this government and so I’m delighted the Prime Minister has asked me to serve in this role. The name change for the department reflects this government’s renewed focus to deliver more homes and build strong communities across England.”
Dominic Raab, a solicitor who worked at City law firm Linklaters and has been an MP since 2010, has been named Housing Minister. He replaces Alok Sharma, who becomes Employment Minister at the Department for Work & Pensions.
