Resident brings judicial review over development including multi-storey car park
- Details
A local resident has applied to take East Hertfordshire Council to judicial review over a planned development that includes a multi-storey car park in the centre of Bishops Stortford.
Clive Risby, who sits on Bishops Stortford Town Council, has said that the district ignored a substantial weight of public opinion against the idea in a consultation.
Plans approved by East Hertfordshire in July call for a redevelopment at the Old River Lane site on the edge of the town centre, which is largely used as a surface car park.
This would include an arts and public sector hub, a new public square, managed workspaces for small business, 186 homes and the multi-storey car park.
The project has secured £9.3m funding from the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
An East Hertfordshire statement said of Mr Risby’s challenge: “We have nothing further to add at this stage, other than we will be defending our position.”
Mr Risby has been contacted for comment.
