Technology provider Caselines hires ex-practice manager for shared legal service to develop UK business

Technology firm Caselines has hired a former key manager of Orbis Public Law, the joint shared legal service between Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex and West Sussex County Councils, to lead its business development in the UK.

Caselines said Andrea Kilby would focus on local government, family justice courts and regulatory tribunals.

Between 2017 and 2018, the firm increased the number of local authority cases handled through its platform by 96%. It said it anticipates ongoing double-digit growth through 2019 and 2020.

At Orbis, Kirby's remit included procuring and overseeing the digitisation of legal services in the Surrey and Sussex family courts and driving efficiencies and best practise across the member authorities.

Jon McNerney, CEO, CaseLines said: “We have appointed Andrea Kilby to lead business development in the UK as we continue to expand globally. She brings a wealth of legal and operational experience and first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing legal teams across local authorities and family courts.

“Given her own experience of digitising legal services processes she is also able to share direct insight into how the CaseLines platform can deliver efficiency savings and improved outcomes for all. This knowledge and experience will be vital as we continue our ambitious plans to grow and develop the platform and expand the range of services we offer in the UK market.”

Kirby said: “Working in the environment of child protection proceedings, where demand is ever increasing but the resources are diminishing, my driver was to find a better more efficient way of doing things. CaseLines is a unique platform that not only provides efficiency savings, but also efficiency gains: speeding up processes, making court procedures more straightforward and most importantly helping to deliver a better, less stressful experience for children and families.

“Joining CaseLines gives me the opportunity to build on my experience and help local authorities and other agencies experience the benefits of using CaseLines. My role is very customer-focused: I will work directly with clients helping them drive the maximum benefits from using the platform, providing best practice and identifying improvements that can deliver even better results. I’m excited about incorporating customer feedback into the platform and contributing to the company’s focus on continual improvement and development.”
