Gambling watchdog appoints three law firms to standing panel

The Gambling Commission has named three law firms to a standing panel for the provision of solicitors services worth an estimated £200,000.

The successful firms, from the 14 tenders received, were:

  • Gregory Rowcliffe Milners
  • Mills & Reeve
  • Capital Law

The watchdog had been looking for firms “able in conjunction to offer substantial UK (excluding Scottish) administrative and public law and regulatory law expertise, and gambling law advice and support (including advice on the conduct of the National Lottery under the third National Lottery licence)”.

The Commission had said it was also highly desirable if respondents were also able to offer advice and support in relation to employment law, contract law, information law, prosecutions, property law, and anti-money laundering law.

The Commission may also need ad hoc advice from time to time on other legal areas.

Legal advisers were to be appointed to the panel for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis up to a maximum of five years in total.

The award criteria were: capability (weighting: 65), quality assurance (weighting: 10) and value for money (weighting: 25).
