Office of the Public Guardian revises guidance on Court of Protection visitors
The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has revised its guidance on Court of Protection visitors, their role in preparing reports and when reports may be released.
The OPG said the changes included:
- updating terminology and language for consistency, and
- adding a section to confirm that OPG does not allow the publication of visit reports or extracts from the visit reports.
The guidance covers:
- What is a Court of Protection visitor? Including the difference between special visitors and general visitors.
- What does a Court of Protection visitor do?
- Releasing a report by the Court of Protection.
- Releasing a report by the Public Guardian.
- Publication of visit reports.
