Mr Justice Ouseley to rule on Dale Farm judicial reviews in next 24 hours

The High Court judge hearing the outstanding judicial reviews in the Dale Farm case is expected to hand down his ruling by 2 pm tomorrow (5 October), it has been revealed.

Proceedings in the two cases finished at 1 pm today. They relate to an examination of the proportionality of taking direct action on a housing matter under planning legislation, and two planning applications for Traveller sites at different locations in the borough

Outside the High Court, Cllr Tony Ball, Leader of Basildon Council said: "We are satisfied with how our legal team has set out our case. It is now in the hands of the Judge who we hope will have a judgement by tomorrow afternoon."

In separate proceedings Mr Justice Edwards-Stuart ruled yesterday that the council could clear 49 out of 54 plots at Dale Farm, save for fences, walls and gates.
