Weightmans sees 12% rise in revenues to £162m, looks to grow higher-value work in public sector and other practices

In an update on its yearly accounts, the full-service firm said the growth was accompanied by 26 new lateral partner hires, together with internal promotions, bringing the partnership to 265.

It also highlighted the opening of a new office in Nottingham, the creation of an immigration team in Glasgow, and mergers with Elborne Mitchell and Myton Law – which it said had increased the firm’s presence in London and Leeds.

The firm meanwhile reported a 16% year-on-year increase in international revenue, partly bolstered by the development of a close working relationship with Irish law firm Whitney Moore.

The firm announced a £2,500 bonus for every employee in light of the successes.

Sarah Walton, Managing Partner at Weightmans, said the accounts represented an endorsement of the firm's strategy and strength of client relationships.

She said: “The strong results reflect both the resilience of our core business and the progress we are making in growing higher-value work in areas such as public sector, regulatory, employment and advisory.

"We are seeing momentum in the right parts of the market, supported by long-standing client relationships and a continued focus on delivering quality and value."
