County names six law firms to expanded framework for delivery of claims service

Norfolk County Council has increased the number of law firms providing legal representation to its in-house insurance team from four to six.
Typical duties under the replacement framework, which is estimated to be worth £1.6m excluding VAT, include but are not limited to:
- Provision of general legal advice
- Representing the authority in litigation
- Maintaining a knowledge of issues facing the authority and being prepared to offer legal opinions
- Supporting the development and knowledge of the insurance team.
The insurance team provide support to the Norse Group and as such require coverage across the country.
The current framework was established in September 2017 when the council appointed four firms to the contract.
The successful firms this time were:
- Browne Jacobson
- DAC Beachcroft (new)
- DWF Law (new)
- Kennedys Law (new)
- Plexus Law
- Weightmans LLP (new)
The contract was awarded on the basis of scenarios (weighting: 30), cost effectiveness (10), risk management (5), training and development (5), fraud (5), added value (5), and price (40).
