Combined authority appoints law firm for projects legal advice worth up to £4m

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) has appointed law firm Pinsent Masons to provide projects legal advice under a contract potentially worth up to £4m over three years.

The appointment was made via further competition from the CCS RM3788 Wider Public Sector Legal Services Framework Agreement (LOT 2a).

Pinsent Masons will be expected to support the WYCA “in providing high quality, accurate and timely legal advice and assistance in relation to various projects that may be undertaken during the term of the contract”.

The law firm will be required to provide legal advice, assistance and associated services on the following disciplines to include, if required, representation, obtaining counsel's advice, and secondment to the combined authority (rates, times and requirements to be agreed if required):

The contract was due to start on 21 April 2021 and run until 20 April 2023. There is understood to be provision to extend for one further year. The total contract term will not exceed three years.
