Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to set up £4m panel for prosecution and legal services
- Details
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is to procure a framework agreement for the provision of prosecution and legal services worth an estimated £4m.
The DVSA is responsible for carrying out various enforcement functions on a number of different schemes relating to road safety. As a result of this activity, various types of offences are detected by DVSA Enforcement Officers that may justify prosecution action through the court system.
The agency said it required specialist legal services to prosecute these cases on its behalf. “In addition to this, the DVSA undertakes special investigations that require specialist legal support, these are larger and more complex than the case-work described above.”
The DVSA’s requirement is for the provision of specialist legal resource “who possess an appropriate depth of knowledge of the relevant court procedures and legislation as detailed in the framework specification”.
