Basildon prepares enforcement notices over breaches at Dale Farm and nearby legal site

The leader of Basildon Council has confirmed that the local authority plans to serve enforcement notices at the start of February over alleged outstanding breaches at the Dale Farm site.

Cllr Tony Ball said Basildon was also aware of breaches of conditions at the legal Oak Lane site and breaches on the roadside.

“Preparations for enforcement are underway,” he said. “The serving of any enforcement papers would be weeks, rather than months.

“The council remains committed to returning Dale Farm to a site in keeping with its green belt status and recovering the costs of the operation.”

Clearance of the Dale Farm site began on 19 October 2011, after a protracted legal battle on a range of fronts. The Travellers and their supporters walked out of the site the following day.
