Dale Farm legal battle to continue as judge extends injunction

A High Court judge has extended until Thursday (29 September) the injunction on Basildon Council preventing the authority from carrying out evictions at Dale Farm.

Mr Justice Edwards-Stuart said the courts would rule on the legality of the Travellers’ removal later this week.

The judge first blocked Basildon from beginning clearance of the site last Monday, when it had expected to start operations after a 10-year legal battle.

Following this afternoon’s judgment, Travellers’ representatives called on the council to return to the negotiating table.

Katie O’Shea from Dale Farm Solidarity said: “The situation at Dale Farm needs a sensible and common sense approach and we urge all parties to use this pause to find an amicable solution.”
