Council launches tender for £1.5m contract for debt collection legal services

The London Borough of Camden has launched a tender for a £1.5m contract to provide legal services for debt collection.

The local authority said the service required from the contractor would “consist of legal advice and all aspects linked to debt recovery from letter before action through to litigation, judgement and enforcement”.

The service will cover all council services with the exception of parking and council tax. Areas to be covered include: sundry debtors; adult social care; housing benefit overpayments; leaseholders services; and rents.

Bidders will be required to have, amongst other things, a web-based interface system for case management and monitoring.

The contract will last for a period of four years. Camden has reserved the right to extend the contract for a further two years at its sole discretion.
