High Court "rejects challenge over timing of transport to and from school"
- Details
The High Court has rejected a challenge to a council’s policy of only providing transport to eligible children at the beginning and end of the normal school day, it has been reported.
According to the 11KBW Education Law Blog, which can be viewed here, the case of R (PP) v East Sussex CC was brought under section 508B of the Education Act 1996 and section 29 of the Equality Act 2010.
The chambers said the claimant, who had a statement of special educational needs, contended that East Sussex was obliged by one or other of these provisions to provide her with transport to school after medical appointments and transport home from after-school clubs.
