Welsh consortium reveals lawyers chosen for multi-million pound framework

The South-West Wales Legal Consortium has appointed six law firms to partner status after completing the procurement of multi-million pound framework agreements for solicitors and barristers.

The legal services department at East Sussex County Council has also won a place on five of the 12 different solicitors panels.

The six original members of the South West Wales Legal Consortium were: Carmarthenshire County Council; Bridgend County Borough Council; Ceredigion County Council; Pembrokeshire County Council; Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council; and Swansea City and County Council. However, the consortium was then widened for the purposes of the tenders to 12 unitary authorities, a national park authority, two police authorities, a fire service authority and a university.

The partner firms are: Ashfords; Beachcroft; Dolmans; Geldards; Hugh James; and Morgan Cole. Seventeen other law firms have also been appointed to the various solicitors panels (see below for the full list).

The solicitors panels cover: civil litigation and prosecutions; commercial conveyancing; corporate governance and ethical standards; education; employment law; general conveyancing; general legal advice; major IT and commercial contracts; PFI, PPP, Company, Trust and Legal Relationships; planning and environmental law; police authority work; and social services.

The consortium has meanwhile appointed 26 sets of chambers to 16 barristers panels.

These cover: administrative law; adult social services and community care; childcare/adoption and fostering; corporate governance; education; employment; housing; licensing; civil litigation; criminal litigation; mental health; planning; police; procurement; property; and trusts and charities.

The list of successful tenderers is as follows. To see which panels each has been selected for, click here for the solicitors panels and here for the barristers panels (downloads a Word document).
