Tributes paid following death of Suffolk head of legal

Tributes have been paid to David White, the interim head of legal at Suffolk County Council who died this week.

Suffolk Police found his body in woods near Butley after receiving a call on Monday 4 April expressing concerns at his welfare.

Quentin Baker, Director of Legal Services at LGSS (the shared service of Cambridgeshire County Council and Northamptonshire County Council), said: “David's sudden death has come as a terrible shock to myself and many other colleagues who have known or worked with him over the years.

“He was well respected in his field and highly regarded amongst those who knew him due to his generosity and good heartedness. It is a sad loss and our sincere condolences are with his family at this time.”

A former colleague told the Evening Star: “He was one of the most genuine, helpful colleagues I have every worked with and I am devastated by the news of this tragedy.”

Sally Marlow, Suffolk County Council’s Head of HR, said: “Our thoughts are with David’s family and friends at this difficult time.” The council is organising a book of condolences - contact Tracey Quennell at This email address is being protected from spambots.
