Lady Chief Justice names 14 Deputy High Court Judges

The Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, Baroness Carr, has appointed 14 Deputy High Court Judges, under section 9(4) of the Senior Courts Act 1981, for a single fixed six-year term.
The appointments include solicitors John Halford, a partner and Head of Public Law and Human Rights at law firm Bindmans, and Peter Marquand, Head of Claims at Capsticks.
The other Deputy High Court judges are:
- Duncan Atkinson KC of 6KBW
- Marcus Pilgerstorfer KC of 11KBW
- Malcolm Sheehan KC of Henderson Chambers
- Sylvia de Bertodano, a circuit judge
- Hugo Keith KC of Three Raymond Buildings
- Richard Kimblin KC of No5 Chambers
- Elizabeth Carre O’Neill
- Stuart Ritchie KC of Fountain Court Chambers
- Paul Mitchell KC of 4 New Square
- Christopher Kennedy KC of Nine St John Street
- Aidan Eardley KC of 5RB
- David O’Mahony of 7BR
The appointments, which run from 21 February 2024 to 20 February 2030, were made following an open competition run by the Judicial Appointments Commission.
