Unlocking legal talent

Jonathan Bourne of Damar Training sets out why in-house council teams and law firms should embrace apprenticeships.

Children law barrister Karen McLaughlin, who has an extensive London local authority practice, has joined 2 Doctor Johnson’s Buildings (2DRJ) as a tenant.

McLaughlin has been practising family law for more than 25 years, specialising in children’s work for the majority of her career. She also acts for parents, children and children’s Guardians.

2DRJ said McLaughlin has “considerable experience of cases which involve allegations of abuse of children, non-accidental injury and sexual abuse, often where the allegations are the subject of criminal investigation, and cases where there is conflicting expert opinion”.

The set was recently appointed to the children’s services lot on the London Boroughs Legal Alliance’s latest barristers framework, which is worth an estimated £60m.
