Senedd makes public law expert Chief Legal Adviser on permanent basis

Public law specialist Huw Williams has been appointed Chief Legal Adviser to the Senedd on a permanent basis.
Williams, who has also been a member of the Law Society's Wales Committee since 2016, had been interim Chief Legal Adviser since 2019 until his position became permanent earlier this month.
He was previously senior partner in Cardiff of Geldards LLP and the lead partner in the public law team for more than three decades.
Speaking to Legal New Wales about the appointment, Manon Antoniazzi, Chief Executive and Clerk of the Senedd said: “Huw’s wealth of experience has seen him already made a significant contribution to the work of the Senedd, and I am delighted that he will continue to provide us with his advice. At an exciting time of rapid change and challenge it will be critical to have someone of Huw’s stature and expertise in this key role.”
Williams added: “I am very pleased to have to opportunity to continue working with my excellent colleagues in the Senedd Legal Services to deliver outstanding parliamentary support to the Sixth Senedd.”
