Cornerstone Barristers appoints Joint Heads of Chambers

Philip Coppel QC and Tom Cosgrove QC have been appointed as Joint Heads of Chambers at Cornerstone Barristers with effect from 1 April 2020.

After six years as Head of Chambers, Philip Kolvin QC’s term at the 59-barrister strong set has come to an end. He will continue in full-time practice.

Philip Coppel QC was called to the Bar in 1994 and took silk in 2009. His deliberately broad practice spans commercial litigation, data protection and other information rights, public law (local and central government), election law, as well as environmental and planning law.

Tom Cosgrove QC is a renowned public law silk specialising in planning and environmental law as well as local government. His practice covers a broad range of areas and developments including climate change, retail, energy, heritage, commercial, employment, residential and leisure proposals, nationally significant infrastructure projects and judicial review/statutory challenges. He regularly acts for the private sector as well as for public bodies and interested parties.

Cosgrove is currently an advisory board member for the Thomson Reuters Transforming Women's Leadership in the Law programme (TWLL), and a committee member of the Planning and Environment Bar Association (PEBA). He took silk in 2017.
