TLT advises major affordable housing provider on £400m joint venture

Law firm TLT has advised The Guinness Partnership – one of the largest providers of affordable housing in England – on a real estate joint venture, which has a gross development value of more than £400m.

The joint venture, between The Guinness Partnership and Countryside Partnerships, is said to be one of the largest of its kind, providing over 700 homes for both open market and affordable tenures in Tolworth, Kingston-Upon-Thames.

Countryside Partnerships is a UK housebuilding and urban regeneration company operating mainly in London and the South-East of England, also with a presence in the North-West.

The transaction was led by TLT housing and regeneration partner Shazia Bashir with support from the firm’s real estate, corporate, construction and banking teams.

Bashir said: “We’re delighted to have supported The Guinness Partnership on this significant project, which will bring much-needed affordable homes to Kingston-Upon-Thames. The scale of the joint venture reinforces TLT’s ability to work on large scale, complex joint ventures in the regeneration market and TLT’s ability to bring together multiple disciplines across the practice to see a project through.”

Kevin Williams, Group Director of Development & Commercial Services at The Guinness Partnership, said: “The scheme here in Tolworth demonstrates our commitment to supporting Kingston’s regeneration ambitions for the area, and the hundreds of homes we will provide over the coming years will make a huge difference to the community and surrounding area.”
