Borough council to seek legal adviser on building affordable residential accommodation
- Details
Hertsmere Borough Council is to appoint an external legal provider to supply advice and transactional services to enable it to build or secure the building of affordable residential accommodation.
The accommodation could be funded by developer contributions or out of the council's own resources or a combination of both, it said.
The local authority added: “Following the Haringey case (Peters v London Borough of Haringey [2018] EWHC 192 (Admin) the council requires the accommodation to be leased to a limited liability partnership of which the council will be a member on terms that require the LLP to let the accommodation on assured tenancies at social and/or affordable rents to persons nominated by the council from its housing waiting list.”
The contract is expected to start on 18 October 2018 and run until 1 June 2019.
