North of England social landlords name eight firms to £14m legal services framework

A group of housing associations in the North of England have appointed eight law firms to a legal services framework worth an estimated £14m over four years.
The contracting authorities are:
- Karbon Homes
- Gentoo Group
- Believe Housing
- Incommunities
- Beyond Housing
The framework has been divided into the following lots:
- Lot 1. General Property/Real Estate and Conveyancing (Commercial and Residential)
- Lot 2. Development and New Build Housing Disposals
- Lot 3. Planning and Construction
- Lot 4. Property Securitisation
- Lot 5. Housing Law and Residential Landlord and Tenant (non-Commercial)
- Lot 6. Governance, Regulation and Compliance
- Lot 7. Corporate, Commercial and Finance
- Lot 8. Employment and Pensions
The successful providers were:
- Anthony Collins (lots 4, 6, 7, 8)
- Bevan Brittan (2, 3, 6, 7, 8)
- Capsticks (1, 3, 5, 6)
- Devonshires (1, 4, 5, 6, 7)
- Forbes Solicitors (3)
- Trowers & Hamlins (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
- Ward Hadaway (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8)
- Womble Bond Dickinson (1, 2, 3, 4)
The framework agreement will be for an initial 24-month period from 5 October 2026, with an option to extend for a further 24-month period “subject to satisfactory contract performance and the contracting authorities still having the need and funding for the contract. The extension period will be in 12-month cycles”.
Karbon Homes has around 34,000 homes in the North East and Yorkshire, Gentoo provides homes for more than 60,000 people in Sunderland, while Beyond Housing provides 15,000 homes in the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire. Incommunities manages more than 22,000 homes across Yorkshire – predominantly in the Bradford district, while Believe Housing has around 20,000 homes in the North East.
