Jenrick to remain at helm of Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government but McVey departs as Housing Minister

Robert Jenrick has stayed as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government following yesterday's Cabinet reshuffle, but Esther McVey has lost her position as Housing Minister.

Christopher Pincher has been appointed as Housing Minister in McVey’s place, while Simon Clarke has also been name as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Suella Braverman, who practised as a barrister at 2-3 Gray's Inn Square (now Cornerstone Barristers) before becoming an MP, has replaced Geoffrey Cox QC, who resigned as Attorney General “as requested”. Braverman will attend Cabinet.

A number of ministers retained their roles including:

  • Robert Buckland QC: Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice.
  • Matt Hancock: Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.
  • Gavin Williamson: Secretary of State for Education.
  • Grant Shapps: Secretary of State for Transport.

Other appointments included George Eustice to Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
