Council to be prosecuted following death of school pupil

The Health and Safety Executive is to prosecute Bridgend County Borough Council following the death of Ashley Talbot, a pupil at Maesteg Comprehensive School, on 10 December 2014.

He was 15 when involved in a collision with a minibus on the school grounds, and died at the scene after suffering multiple injuries.

Bridgend will face a charge under Section 3 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act.

A Bridgend spokesman said: “We acknowledge the decision of the Health and Safety Executive and await further details of the charges.

“We have cooperated fully throughout their investigation and will continue to do so.

“In the meantime, our thoughts remain with Ashley’s family, friends and anyone who may have been affected by this tragic accident.”
