In introducing last month’s webinar, we commented that local authorities taking the source of their energy supply into their own hands is as much a financial imperative as a social and environmental one.

In this month’s webinar we will explore how to go about developing a renewable energy project, using solar PV as the example. Whilst the investor route is possible (ie buying a completed asset) the webinar focusses on a local authority developing land or buildings itself. This involves a series of stages, including concept, feasibility, business case, procurement and contracting.

For those who have not yet taken the plunge, a number of common mistakes are outlined, as well as how to lay out a robust business case and proceed with a scheme from scratch.

You will hear from the two Steves and some guests from local government who have followed this path.

Generally, those authorities that have followed this route found it hard work, but universally commented that it was worth it in the end.
