The Subsidy Control Act 2022 will establish a statutory State aid regime for the UK and be of relevance to all public bodies. This timely webinar will be of interest to all public sector staff, especially public sector lawyers, finance officers, regeneration officers and project delivery teams.

In this webinar, Jonathan Branton and Alexander Rose, who both appeared as experts at the House of Commons Select Committee for the Subsidy Control Bill, will set out the main requirements of the new regime and provide practical guidance on how public bodies can best position themselves to comply with the requirements of the new law.

In this session the following will be covered:

  • understanding the key compliance requirements of the Subsidy Control Act 2022;
  • appreciating the main areas of risk; and
  • recognising the steps which public bodies need to take to compliantly award public funding.

About the speakers:

Jonathan Branton

Jonathan is Head of EU/Competition at DWF and also leads the Government & Public Sector group.

Jonathan acts for a wide range of clients, from large scale manufacturing multi-nationals, through to central and local government bodies, mid-range corporates, universities and research organisations and a number of public sector institutions, funds and charities.

Alexander Rose

Alexander is one of the UK's leading Public Funding lawyers, with an international reputation for his expertise in Subsidy Control, EU State aid law and grant funding programmes.

Alexander advises on all aspects of public funding, including the drafting of grant funding agreements, the setting up of new funding programmes and handling challenges to the compliance of funding. In doing so, he brings to bear his experience of advising on the day to day running of seven national funding programmes.
