As a result of COVID-19 and in response to changing investment guidance from the CIPFA and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, many councils are refocusing their commercial activity. The LGA has developed a range of support for officers to develop the skills they need to take confident decisions about refocused commercial activity.

This is a practical workshop for officers working at a strategic level on commercial activity. The masterclass includes:

  • Legal powers to trade
  • Internal boards
  • Risk
  • Local authority trading companies
  • Directorships and the relationship with the shareholder

This masterclass is a part of the LGA’s Refocusing commercial activity impacted by COVID-19 programme. To see other free masterclasses in this series or to find alternative dates visit the LGA’s Refocusing commercial activity impacted by COVID-19 web pages.
