This new online course provides you with the opportunity to complete LLG’s highly popular Education Exclusions course, delivered by highly regarded and experienced barrister and trainer, Tanya Callman. The day will be broken down into four one hour sessions, allowing all attendees to engage with the speaker and with each other, share experience, ask questions, and participate in discussion.

The course provides a comprehensive update on the latest developments in school exclusions law. The focus of the course will be on the school exclusions guidance which came into effect in September 2017, practical tips for independent review panels, and how to avoid legal challenges including judicial reviews, or complaints of maladministration to the Local Government Ombudsman or to the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

The course will cover:

  • Latest governmental changes on school exclusions including the Covid-19 position
  • What now for exclusion review panels
  • DfE guidance on school discipline and pupil behaviour policies
  • Are your Head Teachers and Governors fully aware of their statutory duties with regard to policies and exclusions?
  • Do you understand the mechanics of exclusion?
  • Are the Clerks of Governing bodies and IRPs trained and aware of their role and responsibilities?
