This new course will provide delegates with the opportunity to undertake the same course but via an online learning platform in which delegates can participate in the training directly from their own homes or offices.

This course is aimed at people who are involved in handling Freedom of Information requests and need a better understanding of how to apply the FOI exemptions. The exemptions in the Freedom of Information Act 2000 allow public authorities to protect information that if disclosed might cause unjustified harm to the authority, individuals or other bodies. However, applying them inappropriately can lead to adverse decisions from the Information Commissioner and reputational damage.

This workshop examines all the FOI exemptions in detail, highlighting key Commissioner and Tribunal decisions. It also looks at what information must be included in a valid Refusal Notice.
