Matrix Chambers bolsters public law team with two new tenants

Matrix Chambers has expanded its public law team with the arrival of Jesse Nicholls from Doughty Street and Sarah Sackman from Francis Taylor Building.

Nicholls specialises in judicial review, inquests and inquiries, civil claims against public authorities, human rights, equality and discrimination law, and media and open justice.

He has acted in some of the most high-profile cases in recent years, including the Hillsborough Inquests, the Deepcut Inquests, the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, the Manchester Arena Inquiry, the Brook House Inquiry, and the Fishmongers’ Hall Inquests, and has appeared in a number of recent, important cases in the higher courts, Matrix said.

Sackman’s public law practice meanwhile encompasses planning, environmental, education, local government, welfare, election and discrimination law. Her experience covers the appellate courts at all levels including the Supreme Court. She also regularly appears at planning and enforcement inquiries.

She joined Matrix on 6 September, while Nicholls will officially join the set in late October. He is currently on paternity leave until the end of January 2022.
