Transport for Greater Manchester names six law firms to major projects panel

Transport for Greater Manchester has appointed six law firms to a lot in its £88m Professional Services Framework covering legal services for major or complex projects.

The successful firms for lot 9 were:

  • Addleshaw Goddard
  • Ashurst
  • DLA Piper
  • Gowling WLG
  • Squire Patton Boggs
  • Weightmans

Steve Johns, infrastructure specialist and Partner at Weightmans said: “We are delighted to have not only been successful in our appointment to the TfGM panel but to be the highest scoring tenderer for the legal services lot in such a competitive process.

“Greater Manchester has not been immune from the impact of Covid-19, and transport will play an integral part in both the recovery of the economy and the region as our communities adapt to the new normal. TfGM is a forward thinking and fast paced organisation already planning for the future, and we look forward to helping them tackle the challenges and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Gowling WLG, whose team on this contract is led by partners Mike O'Shea and Giles Clifford, and legal director Dominic Richardson, said: “The four year appointment covers all legal services that could be required in relation to transport infrastructure, including development & regeneration projects, major service projects for all forms of transport, environmental projects, and innovation projects to advance wider connectivity and accessibility in the region.”

The framework runs until March 2025.
