High Court to hold case management conference for claims arising out of Grenfell fire

A case management conference will be held tomorrow for the High Court claims being brought by victims of the Grenfell fire.

Slater and Gordon solicitor Emma Wilson, who represents 30 Grenfell claimants, said: “Grenfell victims last year issued High Court proceedings against a number of defendants.

“The hearing on Wednesday is a case management conference (‘CMC’), a hearing at which the court will consider how these claims will proceed.

“Most of the parties have agreed a hold (‘a stay’) of these proceedings in order to allow discussion between the parties about how these claims can be appropriately resolved.”

Senior Master Barbara Fontaine will hold the CMC for Atmani & Others v The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea & Other And other claims arising out of the Grenfell Tower fire at 10:30 am on 7 July.

The Guardian has today reported that the claims are being brought by more than 800 bereaved and survivors from Grenfell Tower and 102 firefighters.

The defendants include the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and the Kensington and Chelsea Tenants Management Organisation.
