Kent's Wild to appear before Commission on Freedom of Information

Geoff Wild, Director of Governance and Law at Kent County Council, is to give evidence before the Independent Commission on Freedom of Information.

Wild will appear with Caroline Dodge, Team Leader for Information Resilience & Transparency at Kent, at a session to be held on 25 January.

The Commission is scheduled to hear from a wide range of individuals and organisations over its two oral evidence sessions. They include the Information Commissioner, former ministers, Liberty, the Local Government Association, NHS Providers, the Campaign for Freedom of Information, the Society of Editors and the Press Association.

In November 2015 the Commission’s chair, Lord Burns, revealed that some 30,000 submissions had been made following its call for evidence.

The Commission was set up by the Government in July last year to review the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000. It is considering the balance between transparency, accountability and the need for sensitive information to be protected.
