Welsh Government names DLA Piper to £3m contract for infrastructure schemes

The Welsh Government has appointed DLA Piper to provide legal advice on two major infrastructure schemes.

The two schemes – in line with the priorities set out in the Wales Infrastructure Investment Plan (WIIP) – are the dualling of sections 5 and 6 of the A465 (the A465) and delivery of the Velindre Cancer Campus (Velindre). Both will use the Non-profit Distributing (NPD) model.

DLA Piper was appointed alongside PricewaterhouseCoopers (financial services) and Willis (insurance) to advise and support the development and implementation of the two schemes.

It was anticipated that the first piece of work required from DLA Piper would be the development of the Standard Form Contract and associated documentation.

The total final value of the contracts was estimated to be £6.75m, comprising an indicative £3m for legal services, £3m for financial services and £750,000 for insurance. The contracts were awarded on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender in terms of technical (weighting 70) and commercial (weighting 30).
