Cornwall names seven law firms to £1.5-3m panel for South West public bodies

Cornwall Council has named seven law firms to an external legal panel to be used by public bodies in the South West and worth an estimated £1.5m to £3m over its duration.

The firms chosen were as follows:

Lot 1 (Property, Planning and Highways)

  • Foot Anstey;
  • Michelmores;
  • DWF.

Lot 2 (Commercial, excluding PFI)

  • DWF;
  • Michelmores;
  • TLT.

Lot 3 (Criminal and Civil Litigation)

  • DWF;
  • Browne Jacobson;
  • DAC Beachcroft.

Lot 4 (Social Welfare)

  • DAC Beachcroft.

Lot 5 (Employment, Equalities and Pensions)

  • Prolegal;
  • DWF;
  • Foot Anstey.

Lot 6 (Governance, Parliamentary Agency and Electoral Law)

  • DWF;
  • DAC Beachcroft;
  • Browne Jacobson.

The contract was awarded on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender in terms of quality (weighting 25) and commercial (weighting 75).

The framework agreement will be awarded for an initial term of two years with an option to extend for a further one year, plus one year. This will be exercised at the discretion of Cornwall Council as the contracting authority.

The agreement will be made available to a wide range of public bodies in the South West, including parish, town and city councils, academies, schools, housing associations/housing management organisations, the police, NHS/Primary Care Trusts and the like.

For the purposes of the framework the ‘South West’ area is the administrative areas of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Bristol, Dorset, Wiltshire and the Isles of Scilly.
