University names three law firms to £1.9m legal advice contract

The University of Sheffield has named three law firms to a £1.9m contract to provide legal services.

Out of eight offers, the successful firms were:

  • DAC Beachcroft;
  • DLA Piper; and
  • Pinsent Masons.

The university said: “The purpose of the framework is to create a relationship with the selected legal firms based on an understanding of the university’s practices and culture that will deliver the highest quality outputs while offering value for money.”

It added that the firms had been “required to demonstrate to the university’s satisfaction the ability to provide high quality legal work in areas affecting the strategic and operational workings of a large and complex research intensive university, which will include the provision of services with international reach.”

The firms are expected to provide a comprehensive service under the following categories: commercial legal service; governance, regulations and people (including staff and students); and physical estate matters.
