Top housing association launches £10m legal services tender

One of the country’s largest housing associations has launched a procurement exercise for a legal services framework worth almost £10m over five years.

Genesis Housing Association – which was formed through the amalgation of Genesis Housing Group and PCHA, Pathmeads and Springboard Housing Associations in 2011 – has more than 100,000 homes under management across London and the East of England.

The association has divided the agreement for legal services into two lots: conveyancing and corporate.

Genesis expects to appoint one provider to each lot, although the same provider might be appointed to both.

The scope of the corporate lot – with an annual value of £1.587m – is as follows:

  • Development, construction and procurement;
  • Housing and asset management;
  • Finance;
  • Employment, pensions and governance;
  • Related dispute resolution.

The scope of the conveyancing lot – with an annual value of £300,000 – is as follows:

  • Shared ownership sales;
  • Staircasing;
  • Sales (freehold & leasehold);
  • Commercial property;
  • Related dispute resolution.

The agreement, which is not being procured on behalf of any other authorities, is estimated to be worth up to £9.38m excluding VAT. It will last four years, with an option to extend for a further year.
