NHSLA puts £300-400m in legal work out to tender in panel shake-up

The NHS Litigation Authority has fired the starting gun on a tender for £300-400m-worth of legal advice over four years.

The NHSLA has divided the work into three lots (tenders can be submitted for one or more lots):

  • Lot 1 – clinical liabilities: estimated to be worth £70-80m over 12 months.
  • Lot 2 – non clinical liabilities: £10-15m over 12 months.
  • Lot 3 – regulatory, health and disciplinary law: £2-5m over 12 months.

The authority will make the framework available for a wide range of other bodies, who are expected to make the greater users of Lot 3. They include the Department of Health, the Care Quality Commission, the Health Protection Agency, Monitor and Public Health England.

The time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 16:00 on 2 April.

The NHSLA currently has ten firms on its panel for clinical cases. They are:
