Suffolk CC head of legal appointed as a deputy district judge

The Head of Legal Services at Suffolk County Council, Tim Earl, was last month appointed as a deputy district judge.

Earl is to sit in the County Court, where he will deal with exclusively civil proceedings, including insolvency, contract disputes, personal injury claims and matrimonial and family cases.

He is now one of only 85 civil and criminal court judges under the age of 40 in England and Wales.

In a statement on its website, Suffolk Legal said: “
Whilst this is a significant success for Tim, it is also further recognition of the ability and expertise we have within Suffolk Legal. “

It added: “As Tim's judical appointment is part-time, for around 15 days each year, his ability to lead and manage Suffolk Legal will be unaffected.”
