Bristol turns to local NHS trust as head of legal heads for VWV

The outgoing head of legal services at Bristol City Council is to join law firm Veale Wasbrough Vizards’ public sector team as a consultant.

Stephen McNamara has headed the legal team at Bristol since 1998. He left at the end of November and will start at VWV in January.

Liam Nevin, Trust Secretary for North Bristol NHS Trust, has been appointed as the new Service Director for Legal Services at the city council. He will also start his new role next month.

McNamara said: "VWV has a national reputation for its public sector work and it will be an honour to join the team. I have always had the greatest respect for the firm and its commitment to the public sector."

VWV Managing Partner Simon Heald said: “Stephen is well known across the sector as a highly influential local authority specialist. This appointment highlights our continued investment in the sector and ensures that we have the right people in place to deliver top quality, pragmatic advice to our public sector clients.”

VWV’s public sector team is led by partner David Hansom, who joined from Eversheds in June 2011.
