Some 24 members, including seven QCs, of leading public law set 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square are to join 39 Essex Street, it has been revealed.

They include Peter Village QC, a leading planning and environment silk.

The arrivals will bring the number of barristers at 39 Essex Street to 118, with 37 QCs.

David Barnes, Chief Executive and Director of Clerking at 39 Essex Street, said: “Enlarging our operations and bringing together this group of barristers, who have phenomenal experience and reputation in core areas of chambers, means that Thirty Nine Essex Street can offer clients an unrivalled service across one of the widest legal practice portfolios in the country.

“This union, along with the launch of a new office in Singapore, is part of an ongoing strategy of growth for Thirty Nine Essex Street. It is an extremely exciting time for Chambers.”

Other chambers to have picked up barristers from 4-5 in recent weeks are 11KBW and Landmark Chambers.

Landmark has recruited Tim Corner QC, Philip Coppel QC, Paul Brown QC and Lisa Busch.

11KBW has meanwhile taken on Charles Bourne, Andrew Sharland David Bedenham, Heather Emmerson and Sarah-Jane Davies.
