Gambling Commission launches legal services tender worth up to £5m

The Gambling Commission has launched a tender for the provision of legal services expected to be worth up to £5m should its proposed merger with the National Lottery Commission (NLC) proceed.

The Government recently launched a consultation on the planned tie-up, which is set to be implemented in April 2013.

The two organisations are currently co-located in Birmingham ahead of the merger, with the Gambling Commission providing shared services for the NLC.

The Gambling Commission said it was looking for contractors to provide legal services in England and Wales and possibly separate contractors for work in Scotland.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 17 September 2012. The contract is expected to last from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2017.
